What Is The Lab?
The Lab is our AI-powered prediction engine for college basketball (NCAAB). It doesn’t watch film. It doesn’t have “feelings” about a team. It runs on math — efficiency ratings, tempo matchups, spread analysis, and logistic probability models — and it produces picks that are graded, tracked, and published for everyone to see.

The V8.1 Model evaluates every D1 game daily using two independent engines: a structural edge filter (V6) that finds mispriced spreads, and a projected margin model (V7) that uses Barttorvik efficiency ratings to project final scores. When both engines agree, we call it a Confirmed pick — our highest-conviction play.

The Lab processes every team’s offensive and defensive efficiency, tempo, home court advantage, and spread movement. It calculates projected margins, identifies edges against the market, and sizes bets by confidence tier — all before your morning coffee.
Two Models, Double the Edge
ATS (Against the Spread): The core model. We find games where our projected margin disagrees with the market spread. Picks are tiered from Standard to Elite based on edge size — the bigger the disagreement with Vegas, the more we bet.
Over/Under Totals: Our tempo-based model projects total points scored using each team’s pace and efficiency ratings. When our projection diverges from the market total, we take a position. Picks are tiered as Sharp, Lock, or Knockout based on edge strength.
Two independent models means two independent edges on the same game. When the model sees value on both the spread AND the total, you’re getting maximum coverage.
What Makes Donnie Dimes Different
Full transparency. Every pick is published before tip-off and graded after the game. Our full record — wins, losses, units, ROI — is updated nightly on the Lab dashboard.
Tier-based sizing. Not all picks are equal. Our model identifies how strong each edge is and sizes accordingly. An Elite pick (,500) has a significantly larger historical edge than a Standard pick (,000). You always know exactly how confident the model is.
No narratives. The model doesn’t care about “revenge games” or “must-win situations.” It cares about efficiency differentials, tempo matchups, and mathematical edge. That’s it.
